Pokemon Sword and Shield BP update following new Pokedex warning

Pokemon Trainers have a new surprise update to enjoy this week on Nintendo Switch. As many gamers will already know, developers Game Freek have been adding new bonuses and rewards to Pokemon Sword and Shield since it released back in 2019. This has included a number of different items, as well as new ways to upgrade your Sword and Shield Pokedex. The latest offer allows gamers who have not yet reached the end-game Battle Towers to score some Battle Points.

These are used to claim special items like Held Battle Items, EV Training items and Breeding items.

There's plenty you can do with BP but the problem for most early gamers is that they can't claim any until they complete the main storyline.

Game Freak is making it easier this week for Pokemon Sword and Shield gamers by offering up some free Battle Points.

Anyone who wants to grab 20 Battle Points can do this by choosing the Mystery Gift option from the menu screen, and collecting the Mystery Gift Codes on offer.

By connecting online and then entering the download code "G1GANTAMAX" or "KAMPFTEAM" will make it possible to claim your free Battle Points.

And gamers have also been warned that some other Pokemon Sword and Shield rewards will be disappearing from the game this week.

And some of these are pretty important to your Sword and Shield Pokedex if you're looking to collect as many variants as possible.

If you purchase Pokémon Sword or Pokémon Shield before January 15th, 2020, you can receive a special Gigantamax Meowth.

Unlike others found in the Galar region, this Meowth can Gigantamax to take on an imposing, elongated appearance capable of using a mighty G-Max Move.

Nintendo also confirms that this special Meowth cannot evolve and is still available to claim by selecting the Get via Internet option in Mystery Gift.

They have also warned that Pokemon Trainers only have until January 15 to claim this Cat Scratch Pokémon.

Another reward that will be disappearing next week is the present of 12 Quick Balls. These are available to player who purchased and downloaded the digital version of either Pokémon Sword or Pokémon Shield from Nintendo eShop.

Quick Balls are special Poké Balls that are more likely to catch Pokémon if you use them as soon as a battle begins.

Fans recently saw the end of other Pokemon deals this week, including the chance of encountering a Shiny Magikarp.

This doesn't mean that Shiny Magikarps have been removed entirely from the game but they will no longer be as common as they were.

Pokemon Sword and Shield players may have also noticed that Ranked Battles have returned to the game.

These will be available throughout the month and will allow Trainers to earn some top prizes, including Battle Points.

"In the second season, a handful of Gigantamax Pokémon will be allowed in head-to-head battle for the very first time," a message from the Pokemon Company reads.

"Charizard, Butterfree, Pikachu, Meowth, Eevee, Snorlax, Corviknight, Drednaw, Sandaconda, and Centiskorch will be allowed to Gigantamax in battle.

"You'll be matched up with other players of similar rank to ensure even competition. And the higher you finish when the season concludes, the greater in-game rewards you'll earn.

"Prizes include Battle Points, Ability Capsules, mints, and even valuable Bottle Caps (including Gold Bottle Caps!) for top performers. Try to reach the Master Ball Tier by the end of the month to earn the best rewards.

"To start a Ranked Battle, select VS in the X menu, then choose Battle Stadium, then choose Ranked Battles.

"You can press the Y Button to see what the current rules and regulations are before you begin your match. There are both Single Battles and Double Battles for you to participate in."

Pokémon Masters Update Includes Legendary Solgaleo

Heads up, Pokémon Trainers! A new update has been released for the free-to-play mobile app Pokémon Masters. Trainers can now recruit two new sync pairs to their team. Furthermore, the legendary Solgaleo from the Alola region has arrived! Players will have a limited time to recruit these new characters.

According to a press release, the new limited-time event The Beast That Devours the Sun lets trainers catch Solgaleo. Play the quest and earn special items to unlock the level cap and learn new techniques. A special New Year's Rally event is also available in Pokémon Masters, with rewards including up to 7000 gems. Furthermore, the Pokémon Center is receiving a festive theme for those who are not quite ready to say goodbye to the holidays just yet.

In addition, two all-star champion sync pairs are arriving on Pasio. First, there's the Sinnoh champion Cynthia from Pokémon Diamond and Pokémon Pearl. She brings the Dragon/Ground-type Garchomp with her. Also, Elite Four member and Dragon Trainer Lance from Pokémon Red and Pokémon Blue lands on the island! He joins the fray alongside his trusty Dragonite, a Dragon/Flying-type. Play the event Two Champions to recruit them to your side in Pokémon Masters and crush your competition!

Pokémon Masters has had a rocky start. Many fans were dissatisfied with what they perceived as minimal content and lackluster rewards. Therefore, the developer has apologized to players, promising to address the issues. December saw the release of the first legendary Pokémon, Mewtwo. A fan-favorite, it seems as though the developer is trying to keep the momentum going with this new update.

“Pokémon Masters” Launches A New Two Champions Story Event

DeNA is kicking off the new year in Pokémon Masters by launching a new story event for the next few weeks called "Two Champions". Starting today and running until 9:59pm PT on January 19th, you'll be dealing with two Dragon trainers in Cynthia (Pokémon Diamond and Pokémon Pearl) and Lance (Pokémon Red and Pokémon Blue). You'll also see a new partner added to the mix with Solgaleo. Here's a few extra details on the event for you. New partner Pokémon, Solgaleo – Players can now pair the game's Main Character with Solgaleo, the Legendary Pokémon originally discovered in the Alola region. The introduction of Solgaleo marks the second Legendary Pokémon to arrive in Pokémon Masters,

"The Beast That Devours The Sun" event is now available until January 21 at 9:59PM Pacific Time, and allows players to earn special items required to "Unlock Level Cap" and learn "Moves & Skills" for Solgaleo.

"Two Champions" event that takes players on a journey with two iconic Dragon Type trainers, Cynthia and Lance. The event ends January 21 at 9:59PM Pacific Time.

Cynthia & Garchomp and Lance & Dragonite sync pairs – Players will be able to add these highly anticipated sync pairs to their teams via character-specific sync pair spotlight scouts. Available until January 21 at 9:59PM Pacific Time.

"The New Year's Rally" Event will be available for a limited time from now until January 21 at 9:59PM Pacific Time, and will rewardplayers with up to7,000 gems for playing special missions and logging into the game.

Pokémon Masters' New Event Adds Dragonite & Two Other Pokémon

Three new Pokémon have been added to Pokémon Masters as part of a new story event, including Dragonite.

The new event begins for players from today. The event will also continue through till January 21 at 9:59 PM PST. That gives players exactly three weeks to play the new story content before it disappears.

That's plenty of time for anyone to complete the new missions. That being said, some of the rewards players will get come directly from logging into the game. So, logging in as often as possible will reward you with more stuff that's useful down the line.

Pokémon Masters gets Dragonite, Solgaleo, & Garchomp

Dragonite is merely one of the new Pokémon being added to the game alongside this event. Players will have access to a couple more though.

One of those, Solgaleo, is a legendary Pokémon from the Alola region. It's also the second legendary Pokémon in the game, and it can be paired up with the main character you play in-game. Which means you have three Pokémon you can pair with the main character.

In addition to Dragonite and Solgaleo, Garchomp is being added as well. Unlike Solgaleo though, both Dragonite and Garchomp are only as new sync pairs with their own trainers.

Players can acquire these new sync pairs through the spotlight scout feature, but it should also be possible to interact with them via the Two Champions event going on as part of the new content.

This event begins today along with the others, and continues through to January 21 at 9:59 PM PST.

Additional event rewards include gems and Solgaleo level cap

Two of the smaller events included with this content update are The Beast That Devours The Sun and The New Year's Rally.

The first one is paramount if you want to unlock the level cap for Solgaleo. Going through the missions that are part of it will net you special items that you will need to unlock the level cap as well as learn new skills for the legendary Pokémon.

If you plan to use Solgaleo as your sync pair Pokémon, then you'll want to go through this event.

The New Year's Rally event is where you can complete special missions for gems. You can also acquire them for logging in. All told you can get up to 7,000 gems for doing those things.

So this is where it would pay off to log in and play for a little bit each day or as often as possible for the next three weeks.

Pokemon's New Star is Beating Ash When it Comes to Training

Pokemon fans were wondering how the anime would progress now that Ash Ketchum officially became a League Champion during Sun and Moon, and it seems like the anime responded by introducing a brand new hero to the series. Now that Ash has reached a major milestone on his way to becoming a Pokemon Master, he's taken a backseat to the new protagonist Go in the first few episodes of the newest anime series. With Go taking his first steps into becoming a Pokemon trainer, it seems like he's had a much easier go at things than Ash once did.

Episode 6 of the series sees Go go on a Pokemon catching spree now that his first Pokemon Scorbunny caught his eye, and now he's on the journey to catching every single one. But it was a great example of just how much easier things are coming to Go than Ash, and he might just be better at training.

Episode 6 sees Go fail at catching his first Pokemon, but he soon gets over this hurdle pretty quickly. Go quickly catches a Caterpie, then moves onto a Weedle, Metapod, and before Episode 6 is over, Go goes on to catch every Bug Pokemon from the Kanto region. This includes the tougher Pinsir and Scyther, which were a complete surprise as Go had to only really battle Scyther with Scorbunny in order to completely get the Bugs in the region.

Seeing Go quickly catch on to how catching Pokemon is done, and Ash sit back and watch it all without catching any himself, is a good example of how Go is more adept at training than Ash in these early days. This is surely just Ash sitting back as he's done plenty in the Kanto region thus far, but he soon needs to expand his team for this new series beyond Pikachu. The same goes for Go, who needs to learn the next step in being a trainer so he can truly outmatch Ash. After catching the Pokemon, he needs to make them great members of a larger team.

Pokemon: The Series, is now airing new episodes weekly in Japan, but unfortunately is still not officially licensed for an English language release as of this writing. Staff confirmed for the new series include Daiki Tomiyasu serving as chief director for OLM, Maki Odaira as series director, Kunihiko Yuyama as creative supervisor, Shoji Yonemura overseeing series construction, Shuhei Yasuda serving as character designer, Masafumi Mima as sound director, Yuki Hayashi as series composer. Voice cast members include Daiki Yamashita as Go, Yuichi Nakamura as Professor Sakuragi, Kana Hanazawa as Koharu, Megumi Hayashibara as Jessie, Shinichiro Miki as James, and Inuko Inuyama as Meowth.
